A basket mill requires very little daily maintenance, but five routine checks keep it running reliably: cleanliness, hydraulic oil condition, V-belt tension, basket disassembly, and reassembly gap. Skipping any of these can cause unexpected downtime, damaged grinding media, or a broken tungsten carbide sleeve — the most expensive part to replace.

Cleanliness is the most basic condition for protecting the equipment. A clean machine and a clean workshop reduce many accidental and careless failures.
Clean the basket, tank, and control panel after every batch. This matters most when changing colors or products, because residual material from the previous batch can contaminate the next one and affect dispersion quality.
Note: If you produce multiple colors per day, ask us about CIP (clean-in-place) options for your basket mill.
The hydraulic station is the heart of a hydraulic lifting basket mill. Its oil condition directly affects lifting stability and machine life.
Check the oil level regularly. If it drops, top it up in time. If the oil changes color, replace it.
The hydraulic oil specification is transformer oil or 20# mechanical oil.
For the oil tank and the oil filter at the pump inlet, clean them every six months to one year. When cleaning, change the oil at the same time. At minimum, extract and filter all the hydraulic oil once.

Regularly check the tightness of the V-belt in the upper frame and adjust it in time. A loose belt affects spindle speed, which directly affects grinding and dispersion accuracy.
When replacing the V-belt, always use a new one, not a used one. This keeps the spindle speed correct and the grinding conditions consistent.
Note: If your grinding results suddenly become inconsistent, the V-belt is one of the first things to check. Tell us the symptoms and we will help you diagnose.
The basket is the working part of the machine and should be observed during use. When disassembly is necessary, work from bottom to top:
Remove the convection blade at the bottom. Watch for the tungsten carbide shaft sleeve — it may slide out at the same time. Do not let it fall to the ground, as it can break.
Remove the bottom cover of the basket.
Remove the basket body.
Remove the entrance cover of the basket.
For the first disassembly, ask a qualified technician for guidance. The tungsten carbide sleeve is the most fragile part and the most expensive to replace.

During dismantling and cleaning, do not disassemble the basket body itself. After cleaning, put the parts back in the reverse order of removal.
After reassembly, adjust the gap between the agitator and the bottom mesh to 0.20–0.40 mm. The machine should run with no jamming, no vibration, and no abnormal noise.
If the machine vibrates or makes noise after reassembly, stop and recheck the gap before running another batch.
